  • This situation is like adding a face layer onto your graphics rendering in a game engine and setting it so the face becomes pained when the fps drops and becomes happy when the fps is high. Then tracking if that facial system increases fps performance as a test to see if your game engine is sentient.

it is a fancy calculator. It is using its neural network to calculate fancy math just like a modern video game engine. Making it output a text response related to pain is just the same as adding a face on the HUD, except the video game example is actually quantified to something, whereas the LLM is just keeping the ‘pain meter’ in its input context it uses to calculate a text response with.

  • A monster codex in the in-game, in-universe glossary of terms in FF16 spoils the identity of the True Big Bad a full story arc before the character is actually introduced.

‘In-universe’ as in the glossary is supposed to be something filled out by the protags themselves based on knowledge they would know through story events or research.

It’s even funnier when the game has been patched multiple times and the entry hasn’t been altered or pushed back to unlock after that point of story progression.

Must have been an overlooked localization fluke or something.

  • Most of LLM/image generators are overhyped, but imo there is enough of a use case and a value case (if you want to cut down on paying people) that they will significantly erode the power of labor once more companies understand how to actually use them besides typing prompts into websites

Voice acting will become even more dire of an industry than it already is with voice to voice AI filters making it so a studio only needs to pay 1-2 voice actors to voice a cast of dozens

Art teams will be halved or decimated once more legal teams give the go-ahead for using image generator finetunes to make specific use generators that pump out their exact desired style with only minor manual touch-ups needed. The outcomes would be borderline indistinguishable from their usual art, but now they have to pay much less people for the same work.

Artist contractors will similarly be racing to the bottom against the bottom threshold of ‘literally free’ (they already are atm really)

Data entry jobs will be eroded.

Translation work will be heavily eroded.

Lower level modeling and filming jobs will be heavily eroded.

Higher level programming work will still be in high demand but entry level stuff will be under valued and hard to find.

All of that pushes more people into other fields looking for work, and thus erodes the labor power of those as well. Things get shittier and we get a lot of ugly things to look at.

  • It’s really annoying how when men get this specific plotline the focus is usually about them getting in touch with the humanity and emotions they’ve closed themselves off of, or have been actively denied from them

but when women get this plotline, it’s a solid 50/50 chance the focus is on them getting in touch with motherhood and sexual intimacy (with a weirdly common focus on their uterus)

it’d be like if a grown child soldier man was weeping because he’s never been allowed to do big cums in people. like what the hell
