Ooh, eugenics! Yk, I think there some German guys with red armbands who’d agree with you. And some American guys with red hats.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's the most offensive word I can use that isn't a slur?
8·4 months agoThe only reason people use this word is because it sounds like the slur. If you’re choosing words just so you can say “Actually, it’s technically not a slur,” you’re just being racist.

Games@hexbear.net•Had the absolute dumbest argument about quicksave mechanics/save statesEnglish
3·4 months agoSo then it sounds like you agree that save states can remove the friction that makes a challenge fun. Otherwise you wouldn’t restrict yourself from doing it in boss fights.
Really, what the issue comes down to is what you personally think is the most satisfying and fun way to play the game. Save-stating is cheating, but who cares when it’s a singleplayer game. Just make up your own rules based on what you think is the most fair challenge for yourself.
“Cracked” means good lol. Like, if one were to be “cracked at Fortnite,” it means that they are exceptionally skilled at the game Fortnite.
None of that is “rules for boys” though. They apply to all kids. If a girl is acting rambunctious, she’ll get told to stop too. Often for behavior the boys don’t even get called out for because, as you said yourself, girls are held to a higher standard of civility.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘If I switch it off, my girlfriend might think I’m cheating’: inside the rise of couples location sharingEnglish
1·6 months agoThis makes sense. I’m completely on board with ethical non-monogamy. To me, cheating is just when you betray your partner’s trust to engage in sexual/romantic behavior with someone else, and what actually count as cheating depends on an agreement between you and your partner(s).
I did see OP respond to my comment and edit it away. If I recall, they said something along the lines of 'it’s oppressive for someone to restrict your freedom in forming relationships with other people." And I do understand that point. Like, if my friend tried to tell me I couldn’t be friends with some other person, I’d be pretty mad. So why do allow a romantic partner to set boundaries on the potential relationships I could form with others that have nothing to do with them?
Well, personally, I’m monogamous, (although I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea of an open relationship in some form). I have no desire to be with anyone but my partner, and my current partner feels the same way. I’ve also been cheated on before, and it felt absolutely terrible. A lot of the pain came from my ex’s lies and betray, but it also just hurt to imagine him being with someone else and preferring them over me. Those emotions of possessiveness and jealousy, even divorced (pun intended) from the betrayal element of cheating would still upset me, I think. Maybe these feelings are just a result of a combination of insecurity and my societal upbringing towards monogamy, but they are still very real to me. So I want a relationship with a partner who will respect my feelings on this matter and do their best to avoid causing me strong emotional pain, just as I would do for them.
To me, it feels more freeing to just not have to worry about my partner getting with other people, and it’s well-worth the trade-off of not doing something I had no desire for anyways. I see nothing wrong with this type of relationship as long as everyone involved consents to it. But if others want relationships with complete freedom on what they do with additional partners, more power to them.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘If I switch it off, my girlfriend might think I’m cheating’: inside the rise of couples location sharingEnglish
21·6 months agoCould you explain what you mean by calling it an oppressive custom? Personally, I love being with someone. It has the upside of me getting to enjoy companionship with another human being, and it doesn’t feel like handcuffs. Sometimes I have to do things that I wouldn’t do otherwise for the sake of my partner’s feelings/wellbeing, but isn’t that the case in all relationships? Romantic, familial, platonic, or otherwise? If my partner wants me to do something I’m truly uncomfortable with (like allowing them to track my location), and we can’t agree on a compromise, I’d just end that relationship and find someone I’m more compatible with.
It’s pretty common for people to write greentexts where they pretend to be the other person in a scenario and write from their point of view in order to point out how strange the behavior in the original post was. It’s intended to be parody, not something you actually believe.
An invalid turn would be something like placing a move on top of an already-filled square or outside of the 9 grid spaces. It seems obvious to a human that you can’t do these things, but computer bugs have a tendency to do things you don’t expect. And yes, passing a turn doesn’t provide an advantage, but I listed it because it’s still technically cheating.

3·7 months agolook up what an IUD insertion is like without anesthesia
Yep. When I got my first IUD in, that was some of the worst pain I had experienced in my life. Felt like I was getting stabbed in the cervix, and the cramps afterwards were so bad I puked. Totally worth it, but I wish they had prepared me more beforehand (said I would feel a “pinch”).

6·7 months agoI’ve used hormonal IUDs since I was 16, and they’ve fantastic. You can just have one inserted and then not have to worry for the next ~6 years. Completely stopped my period too (came back briefly before I got on T, then T stopped it again, and now it’s still gone even after being off T for several years). I can not overstate how amazing not having a period has been for my mental health.
When I first tried to get one, my doctor tried to convince me out of it because I was “too young” and hadn’t had a child yet. I’m so glad I stayed firm in my decision and got a gyno who would work with me.
Placing moves in invalid locations, passing a turn, or making multiple moves on one turn?
imagine that lingering post testicle injury pain
yeah, that’s not really helpful for me :/
Wow, my bf’s name is Kenny and we love having gay sex, so this is perfect for me!

You just tap the first letter, and then slide your finger over the other letters until you’ve finished the word. Then you lift your finger and do the next word. It’s faster than tapping because you don’t need to lift your finger off the screen nearly as much. Especially when you only have one hand.
That being said, I do really miss my old phone that you could turn on its side and slide out a physical keyboard.
