13·16 days agoYeah I guess people doesn’t really care all that much about giving information to big tech, it’s so normalized today, in my university (I am a student) when I tell people I don’t use Instagram or TikTok and whatnot they look at me like I am crazy, tbh maybe if we define crazy as “not doing what everyone around you does” maybe I am

675·16 days agoNice but it’s kinda wierd how people decided to use these browsers after this new law was passed, I mean it’s so easy to install apps on smartphones right now but people needed this choice screen to choose another browser of their liking? I would guess it’s probably old people that switched that didn’t know how to install browser without it, I googled but couldn’t find any prove of this tho so it’s just my guts

1·1 month agoNot really, you can watch video about it on youtube channel “not just bikes”, he makes great points about why this is bad idea and why best way to reduce fatality and car crashes is to just make better alternatives to cars such as bus network or trams (street cars) or bike lanes or anything really

02·1 month agoNice to see decreasing numbers, I thinks it’s because of many reasons but mainly investment in public transportation and passager trains as well as decreasing population. Article doesn’t really talk bout what cars had bigger fatality rates but If u have to guess it was probably big American cars (forgot the name)

251·1 month agoIt’s really sad state programmers (especially juniors) are in right now, I guess it will get worse over time. I had a meeting with recruiters in my university, many of em just said to me send email and useless stuff that don’t go anywhere but couple of em said they’re don’t even hire developers anymore and make AI do the entire job (I went on one of their websites and it didn’t work :)). Also hackathons are really in bad state, most of em advertise ai and vibe coding, idk how anyone can learn from hackathons in this state they are in

Europe@feddit.org•Expecting driverless taxis to respect bike lanes “too high a bar” – because customers want to be dropped off in them, autonomous vehicle firm Waymo tells cyclistsEnglish
7·1 month agoI knew this would happen but didn’t though it was happening right now, I think if cities or entire countries won’t do anything bout it right now then as time passes this cars will much more than 5, also I genuinely think in the future they could program this cars specifically for them to get in a public transport way so it will slow down and more people will go with waymo or whatever

32·1 month agoJust like how youtuber “not just bikes” said it would be, cities would be much better improving public transportation than complying with whatever big tech companies tell em to do
Seems there’s lot of mess in the company all because of Microsoft or name it greed or late stage capitalism but still something tells me GitHub is just too important to lose dominance in next few years, after that if any other company takes over it’ll probably be gitlab but it’s really hard to speculate on this kind of things, I hope Microsoft leaves GitHub alone, they probably will fix themselves, lot’s of developers depend on Github and migration is not easy thing for big repos I expect.
