My other biggest gripe: what happens to business computer users at the office? What about their admins? How much extra work is this going to create???

I’m stealing every one of these, thanks! I’m in that same burnout pool of, can I just be fired already…

We can’t revolt if they keep sending over (somewhere) young adults as part of a draft. It’s like they have to minimize who could uprise, and young gen Z and alpha are the ones pushing back on following the rules, but are also the most affected by the draft.

Funny about the Number 23. After watching it years ago, I still find it everywhere and often. I know it’s probably one of those: “Get a new car then notice that same car everywhere” effects, but still…

Let me comment before finishing the article: this is a software’s lack of security problem, not a young teenager’s problem.
The fact they were breached, that’s nothing new. Same goes for everyone’s SSN under the sun, who cares?! The fact that a young person is owning up to it now, they have to punish and make such a big example out of him, it distracts from the failure of big tech…

Good for the half that’s fighting it!!

Not true, ordering companies to block DNS when they don’t “operate” (hosting servers) in France, it’ll likely do nothing. Just like the US going after non-US companies. They don’t have to comply. Quad9 I would especially think wouldn’t comply since they push for an open and private internet. Google will probably comply because they’re Google and still want everyone’s data they can get.

Gotta make profits first, then tank the market so the billionaires can buy back in the game to make even more.

Dude, just… No. Nobody is killing DNS. You can’t remove that integral part of the system without a strong replacement worldwide.
“We’ll have to ask the IP of the website we want to visit” Ask what, exactly? DNS is the resolver of domain name to IP, so unless everyone’s going to keep a spreadsheet of the IPs they want to visit, you need DNS.

Dude, Amen!! Some of my friends might dry heave at some of the purchases I’ve made and the amount I’ve spent 😅. Yet I’m a drop in the bucket compared to others!

Since they (founding fathers) just protected against a tyrannical government, I’m pretty sure they wanted firearms to be fully legal to own in the future to be able to “easily” do the same thing they just did. I just don’t think they realized how good the tyranny would get at propaganda and misdirection! They knew and had seen this before, they understood the reason behind it. A well regulated militia- at least to me- meant the organization of people to take a stand against the government (bc at the time there were no military branches). Therefore if the corrupted politicians of the time tried to arrest or stop from being overthrown, the people’s militia could work to replace the gov with new individuals!
I honestly think, looking back, the formation of the military (or at least 1 reason) was to protect the gov from its people, but the excuse that it’s for foreign threats was used. Outside of a few smaller attacks and WWs, nobody has really “attacked” America in nearly 250 years. Everything else has been self initiated or inflicted; and, personally, I sort of feel the gov keeps all those willing to “fight” tied up in the military, keeping busy fighting other wars so there really is no chance of a domestic uprise… Obviously all speculation and just presumptions based on actions… I’m no expert!
Edit: at least the last part feels that way. Things are getting really bad at home, so what do we do? Start the first draft in roughly 50 years! Again, not an expert…

Haha this is there sort of thing that got me permabanned from Reddit! 🤣
I once had a fortune cookie that read something like this, “Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want”.
And let me tell you, I have a lot of experience! That cookie made me OK with learning the “hard” way.

Did you know: you can fully sign out of Google on your phone and still use it? You can download an alt app store like F-Droid for most apps, or use APKeep from EFF to get those certain app installers. Or Aurora store, but I’m less familiar with that, and assume it’s the same principle as APKeep. I also recommend NetGuard to individually handle what apps are allowed to use internet access.
Either way, you may not be able to fully remove Google from Android without a custom ROM, but there’s still a lot you can do.

The bottom part of your comment is what we already do. It’s not really helping anyone else out, unless it’s to basically spread awareness to get “the other half” of the country riled up too.
I think the military oath, “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” would be widely interpreted so that a lot of the internal branches of the military would be divided on if he’s an actual threat.
Personally, I think we’re to that point now where he basically does whatever he wants without proper approvals, and then no repercussions either; so it’s reinforcing the ability to do so and shows how powerless/spineless the rest of the gov is.

I just kind of forego any content. I used to watch silly stuff like the Electroboom guy, Linux Tech tips A LONG time ago when it felt more personable and meaningful. My son watches carwow or something, doing car comparisons sort of how Top gear used to, but I’m not into it as I can’t afford those nice cars lol.
Tech review stuff gets under my skin bc it’s so much promotion of sponsors, their channels, and they’re always begging for likes and subscribes… 🤮 plus they’re often biased. I know there’s a large audience to cater to but I feel often times I’m more, product and feature aware than they are, but I’m also obsessed with technology, FOSS, self-hosting, etc.

Good explanation!

Yeah, you say, “fuck no” like it’s awful, but then provide no context as to why it’s so repulsive or why he is a bad person…
As far as a party is concerned, focusing on uniting the middle ground of voters who could use a voice or representation, more consumer privacy, and doing the right thing, yeah, it’s so terrible! /s

“Content creators” lol. I mean, I guess there could be, but YT stopped being decent about 10 years ago, maybe longer. I haven’t used it but for an occasional video. Surprisingly, I haven’t missed it. There’s not much on YouTube I couldn’t get elsewhere, with less ads, and to the point vs a 10 minute video intro plus sponsor plugs, etc.
Ohhh trust me I know it’s all about surveillance. I’m just meaning they’re going to negatively impact everyone everywhere without a second thought because they’ll get what they want in the end. Either more money or more reelections
