600k? You dropped some zeros there. It’s $600,000,000.
He’d have to go a lot higher than 10k p.p. to even make them consider it, so that’d be billions. Luckily he has millions of tax payers who can fund his little obsession!

All other idiocy aside, this number is just so fucking offensive. 10k, really? That’s it?
Only things like airport security, or when going to music festivals or other events, they’ll (sometimes) check you for weapons.
Lived in 4 different countries in the past decade, all in the EU.
Oh that’s a good one, yes. It’s something that costs you time and you get absolutely nothing in return.
Another one would be how they leave their (public) toilets behind. “That’s what cleaners are paid for.” No fuck off. – Though of course this one would be a little harder to actually witness. ;)
I’m very intolerant of behavior that tells me type of people they are. For example throwing garbage on the floor, or being unkind to serving staff, or something like that. Red flags for sure.
And of course there’s the obvious stuff that is an instant deal breaker, like bigotry, being anti-vax, hating cats (or animals in general), right-wing politics, etc.
Yeah, don’t worry, I get it. Just thought I’d give a possible explanation. ;)
Seems to me this person might be German (considering the username as well) and used the German word by accident.
I think we agree on this pretty much, but what you saw as a freak-out was just me pointing out that this parade stuff is typical dictator shit (on top of all the other typical dictator shit). He’s bad enough without the parade, it’s just emblematic.
Honestly? I don’t think anyone is going to be convinced of how bad Trump is anymore. Anyone who could be convinced probably already is. More people deported, a parade, more tariffs, more departments dismantled, imperialistic rhetoric, whatever. Too many people have already accepted all this, accepted too much. I doubt any of his followers can still be persuaded. What needs to happen is those cowards in congress need to step up and do something about it.
Yeah, you know, I’m not actually American and I don’t pay homage to any army. And I hope you didn’t truly conclude from my post that this parade bullshit is the only thing I dislike about Trump, or that due to a lack thereof somehow I approved of Bush? Come on, even you know that’s just a poor straw man.
That said, I don’t disagree at all with the other stuff you’re saying, you are absolutely right. I’m just telling you that no normal (and by normal, I don’t necessarily mean good!) leader (i.e. one who is not a megalomaniac, a narcissist or a (wannabe) dictator) would demand a military parade for their birthday. Honestly not. And even if you don’t care because it’s “symbolic,” you should still care because it shows you the type of person he is. The fact that it’s “also the army’s 250th birthday” is irrelevant, because it’s irrelevant to Trump. HE wants a birthday parade for HIS birthday. He thinks he deserves it. He thinks his birthday is worth a 100 million dollars and he doesn’t give a fuck that the tax payers are footing the bill.
Trump sees himself as the institution. That’s the whole point. The U.S., that’s him. The government, it’s him. L’État, c’est moi.
Now if it were me I’d abolish military parades completely, because imo it’s just a waste of money. But the fact that Trump wants one for himself is just another page out of his Dictator handbook.
It is a very important distinction. I can’t even imagine the prime minister of my home country insisting on a military parade for his birthday. He’d be laughed out of parliament, because it’s fucking ridiculous.
Having a parade as part of some event, for an anniversary or something, that’s one thing. But this is Trump wanting one for his own personal glory. That’s actually something only dictators do. Kim Jong Un loves parades. Hitler loved parades. Mussolini loved parades.
I guess maybe it’s not so weird that Trump wants one too, considering who he wants to emulate.
You do if you’re from a country that doesn’t allow dual citizenship. I mean, it’s not a requirement on the U.S. side, but still.
I just can’t imagine how hopeless these people must feel. It’s a fucking nightmare. You’re accused of something you haven’t done (not that anyone deserves this, even if they are criminals), there’s no way for you to even make anyone listen to you and you’re dumped in a prison in a foreign country with no hope of ever getting out? It’s just… jesus christ, the injustice of it all is simply heartbreaking.
To think that millions of people are actually cheering for this is terrifying. If I were American, I’d be terrified. If “illegals” can’t have due process, then nobody has due process, because how are you going to prove you’re a citizen without due process? They can literally grab you off the street and send you to a concentration camp and there’s nothing you can do about it, because all they have to do is claim you’re illegal.
I honestly don’t understand how all these people in power are even still alive.
You know what? I understand the feeling. But then I realize that the poor guy waiting for a kidney is really not to blame for how fucked up society is.
Have to admit I know basically nothing about vultures. Can’t say I’m surprised that another (sub?)species goes extinct due to humans. We seem to be very good at that.
No, it’s actually the truth. You can’t imagine how many people share the sentiment that corpses > living people. I wasn’t being disingenuous, I’ve heard it so many times.
It’s a free world, you believe what you believe.
Edit: not sure what you mean with living in a vacuum? What I believe is that it’s a binary choice. You either choose to potentially help someone by being a donor or you don’t.
Sure, that’s fine. To each their own. Not the first time I’ve heard that prioritizing the living over the dead is ignorant.
Hmm, can you actually choose who the organs go to? In my country at least I don’t think that’s allowed. You’re either a donor or you’re not, but it’s doctors/hospital/board/however it’s called, who decide where the organs go, based on need, probability of success, etc. But I suppose that’s different in every country.
So we’ve established it’s a thing. I don’t mind agreeing to that. That doesn’t change my opinion about organ donation, however.
That sounds so weird to me. What if you have 4 siblings… they all own a quarter of you? But they’re not actually allowed to chop you in 4 pieces? What about stuffing. I get letting a body rot is a health hazard, but animals get stuffed all the time for people to display. And since humans are animals, and if the bodies can be owned… then that should be legal, right? As far as I know it’s not.
And even if… technically I own my own body… I can’t sell it, I can’t kill it (well I can, but suicide is still illegal as far as I know, not that most people care because when you’re succesful, it doesn’t matter if it’s a crime), I can’t chop it up and sell the pieces, or give it away. Hell, many people aren’t even allowed to get the medical care they need, because a bunch of strangers are deciding what’s best for you (abortion, trans healthcare). So if a bunch of strangers can decide what you can’t do with your body while you’re alive, then certainly they should be able to decide what to do with your corpse.
I’d posit that ‘ownership’ means very little when you can’t do anything with your so-called ‘property.’
Now I also wonder which laws take precedent. If someone… chops up the body of your loved one, which you ‘own,’ is it corpse desecration or destruction of property?
Yeah, it’s been that way for decades. You just empty the jar/bag into the machine and it sorts/counts everything automatically, and then you can transfer the amount to your bank account.
When I was a kid I used to love this. We’d go sell stuff at flea markets and then take the bag of coins to the bank. Watch number go up, yay.
