16·1 month agoListen, if you’re not gonna straight up tell us who it is and bring receipts, then I have absolutely no reason not to continue assuming that Trump is gobbling down his Big Beautiful Bill.

Television@piefed.social•The Wheel of Time's Rosamund Pike wishes the show could be saved, but believes "we have to accept that it's over”English
142·1 month agoI thought the last season was great, though I have no idea how faithful it was to the source material since I haven’t gotten that far in the books. However, the show is what recently got me to start reading the books, so say what you will about it, but I think the show at least had that positive outcome me.

27·1 month agoI’d never heard of him before, but wow, screw this guy. I spent some time in Copenhagen recently and it was truly a culture shock moment how much better their cycling infrastructure is compared to ours in the US. I enjoy cycling, but hate riding in the streets because I’m always nervous of cars around me. And now that I’ve seen what bike lanes are like in Europe, the comparatively few we have look woefully pathetic.

13·3 months agoThis man brought objectively more value to society than Chucklefuck Kirk ever could have. Not gonna be long before people actually are trying to run over the orange gestapo. And when we get to that point, I might be inclined to treat that much the same as if I had seen someone stealing food: No, I didn’t.

8·3 months agoThere is a reason I’ve spent most of this year referring to Trump’s secret police as the American Schutzstaffel. I’d say what I think citizens should do to them on sight, but I think it would violate community rules here and likely land me with an all-expenses-paid permanent vacation to one of their other concentration camps.
It’s hard to imagine that Notepad of all things has now been enshittified. On Windows, I only ever use Notepad++, but regular ol’ Notepad has been a staple of Windows almost since the beginning. It truly feels like they’ve finished peeling away what little good remained of what Windows used to be.

Languages and Linguistics | Polyglots, Language Learners and Linguists!@lemmy.world•What are some fun languages to learn?English
3·4 months agoI’ve been learning Danish recently. It’s weird, but kinda fun once you get the hang of the pronunciation. Probably the most interesting thing about it to me is that when translated literally, it sometimes sounds like speaking silly English. I don’t know if I would call that a “feature”, but it’s amusing and manages to hold my interest.
I’ll admit the reviews of it being very difficult turn me off as well, but if the difficulty settings are as flexible as you say, that would convince me to give it a try. Though, I really wish they had a demo available on Steam.
