Thankfully there is healthy competition in this space with Jellyfin.
Yeah, I always forget that Plex thinks it’s an actual business. If it goes away, I’ll finally switch over to Kodi.
Not shocked that the FAST model has unpredictable revenue downturns. But I was surprised to read that Plex has roughly 175 employees - that seems way, way higher than I would have expected.
You need all those employees to make additions to your code like arcade addons… then to deprecate them less than a year later… rinse and repeat.
Love my Plex media server but I also have my jellyfin server set up just in case.
Eh, I won’t miss them. I have a Plex lifetime sub but I switched to Jellyfin long ago over privacy concerns. Plex was also a super bitch to get working across multiple vlans on the home network. Jellyfin just works.
