    1. Get Firefox
    2. Get uBlock Origin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

Step 1 is critical because ad blockers on Chrome (for obvious reasons) have some limitations. Even the developer of uBlock origin recommends Firefox: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/uBlock-Origin-works-best-on-Firefox

      Alternatively. Get Adnausem

It is built on top of ublock origin and will “click” on the adverts behind the scenes and make advertisers think you like a product messing with your advertising profile.

It also has a nice AdVault so you can see what advertisers are trying to push onto you.

Even better: get Librewolf with uBO pre-installed!

What is enshittification?

The phenomenon of online platforms gradually degrading the quality of their services, often by promoting advertisements and sponsored content, in order to increase profits. (Cory Doctorow, 2022, extracted from Wikitionary) source

The lifecycle of Big Internet

We discuss how predatory big tech platforms live and die by luring people in and then decaying for profit.

Embrace, extend and extinguish

We also discuss how naturally open technologies like the Fediverse can be susceptible to corporate takeovers, rugpulls and subsequent enshittification.
