The absolute worst place to get a cut wtf. Whenever I’m calling someone I’ll be getting blood on my screen. It’s going to take ages to heal.

I have literally used and never will use a mandoline slicer. I am not a Michelin starred chef nothing MUST be that thin. If I can’t get it thin enough with my knife I’m not making it there are and endless number of foods I can make instead that don’t require me to use the devils cutter.

I don’t know anyone who owns one who hasn’t cut themselves on it in a serious way. They should be banned they’re awful devices.

I’ve seen ones that have like a rotating cutter with a handle that you turn those are probably alright

They should just sell them with gloves, i will never use one without a cut resistant glove again.

I rarely ever use it but in this case I was making gratineed potatoes, if they’re not sliced super thin the texture is fucked up and doing it with the knife takes forever

I think you are right though that if you’re making something that needs the mandoline the correct thing to do is probably to not make that thing. Roasted potatoes would have been fine and my finger would be intact 😞
