Whether instances work is something that changes too frequently to make the software responsible for closely tracking that information. If you update them when something is broken, you will end up with a decent setup.
Yea i guess your right, i was just angry cus its a great concept and i wouldve liked it to ‘just werk’ all while knowing things are hardly ever that easy😅
I don’t know that they manage the redirected lists, or if they just have defaults that they don’t update. I disabled every redirect except for Twitter, and I only have xcancle.com as an option for redirection. I’ve had a pretty shit experience with many of the other services and their privacy front ends. If I find an instance that works for a site I feel the need to redirect, I’ll manually curate that services list. So far, xcancel is the only one I’ve gotten value out of. The twitter timeline of a profile is not chronological, and on xcancel it is. You can’t view additional replies at times on single threads, but you can on xcancel. Most other services are more aggressive with VPN’d or guest viewing. Instagram will not load if you’re on a known VPN for example. Reddit will also block you if you’re on a VPN.
Shit is trash and every redirect points to broken instances or instanced that have been limited or something
I only use it to redirect to xcancel.com. As long as you have viable instances to redirect to, then it works fine.
Do the ppl making it not manage the redirected-to instance regularly? Should i babysit the extension to get actual value atm?
tux icon upset about tweaking software
Id rather not have the shipped iteration just be malfunctioning out of box

Would be nice. I think the solution is for proxies to function as federated caches, but that would take a Herculean effort.
