It depends on what you mean by “similar to humans”. There are levels to communication and we already know they’re quite far up the hierarchy, even if not on the same level as us.
Didn’t we recently have a 20 minute conversation with a whale by playing back recorded messages?
Yeah, we recorded it using its species’ greeting system and it went out of its way to come to the researchers to say hi.
