“At the border” is a bit of an understatement. The town has no land access to the US. There is no ferry service to the US. There was a temporary one during COVID when the border was closed. Their lifeline is Canada. They won’t be buying more American goods. The shops will dry up because they will simply be driving a few miles to buy from Canadian stores. The few business owners that actually provide goods will have to shut down.

Lol it’d be funny if Canada took Point Roberts, thus starting Canada’s assimilation of the US as our next territory/province

Point Roberts seems like a likely place for the Trump administration to try to escalate with Canada

    K.

    So.

    What about that library entrance?

I want to have sympathy. Even more in the case of Point Roberts. But I grew up in a society saturated with Americans ideas on freedom and rights and governance and diplomacy and… and… what is right and…

    And yeah.

Maybe they should have a vote on declaring themselves Canadian.
Trump seems to believe that should be respected regarding Ukraine in Russian occupied territories despite the vote was manipulated.
So by that standard there should be no problem for this town to vote themselves Canadian.

Campobello Island in Maine is the exact opposite. It’s on the Canadian side of the border but their only land route is a bridge to Maine.

I somehow doubt they’ll be voting to join the US any time soon though.

I seem to recall there being a similar exclave in the east, Ontario or Manitoba or something. I remember it from COVID times but can’t remember its name.

Did I say i didn’t really care? Cuz I still dont. Maybe these people will get off their asses and do something about it. Probably not tho because Americans seem to have the fucking drive and passion of the Afghan military…

Multiple times it’s been shared that “these people” have done something about it but you either aren’t paying attention or you don’t care enough to read the responses.

Either way the onus is on you buddy. Do the work.
