Was aber ist die Alternative zu Whatsapp? Wir müssten als Europäer ein Umschaltdatum festlegen, als Beispiel den 01.01.2026, wo wir geeint von Wahtsapp zu Signal oder was auch immer wechseln. Damit würde man ein Zeichen setzen und du hättest auch nicht das Problem, dass 2 Leute Whatsapp nutzen, 3 Threema und der Rest wieder was anderes… Whatsapp ist doch nur immer noch so groß, weil es einfach fast jeder hat…

I have seen an alternative fediverse version of Instagram posted on Lemmy like a dozen times.
Also, as an aside, it’s really weird that Americans don’t use WhatsApp and like all of Europe seems to. We probably have more telegram users here and even that’s probably less than 1% of society.

Sadly me because it’s the only thing the old ass fucks I know IRL are using as a majority. That and SMS, lol. I never scroll the feed on Facebook anymore though because, and I wish this was hyperbole, 3/5 posts are either blatant ads or ads disguised as promoting a page.
