The jackasses couldn’t be bothered to call it a genocide, but this:

The Houthis began the campaign in solidarity with Palestinians when Israel went to war in Gaza in October 2023. The group has carried out more than 100 attacks and have sunk two vessels. The result: 70% of merchant shipping that once transited the Red Sea now takes the long route around southern Africa.

is genuinely better, more fair coverage than most western media I’ve read, since many outlets just kind of completely neglect their motives and don’t mention it at all, or claim they’re just pirates.

Wow. Are you telling me the people that’ve been pounded by airstrikes for over a decade and kept fighting, kept fighting after being pounded by airstrikes? Who could’ve seen that coming?

Since mid-March, the Houthis have launched a dozen ballistic missiles at Israel, and barrages of drones and missiles at US navy ships. While none caused major damage, the threat remains.

so we are gonna ignore that Trump confirmed the yemenis have sunks US ships? ok

Trump was referring to cargo ships from the general naval blockade, not US Navy warships. There’s no evidence of US Navy ships being hit or even sunk, satellite imagery shows them operating normally. The Yemenis have sunk 2 ships, hijacked 2 ships, damaged 43 ships, and left 16 in a state of unknown damage/repair in their blockade of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. That’s a total of 61 ships hit. Unsuccessful attacks were also launched against 37 further cargo ships. That’s what is being referred to here.
