I’d like to express how astoundingly great this platform is. Especially if one compares it to Reddit (since that’s where I had heard about this platform).

Like, I was already on board with the whole idea of having federated groups and not be reliant on one massive corporation that, among other things, can treat its users and communities however it deems fit. But also, just the quality of conversations here is on a completely different level.

Just to give an example, after being helped so much with a question I had here, I made the mistake of trying to ask a different question I was curious about over at Reddit.

While here I received truly helpful replies, comments and resources that actually helped me with my question (in addition to giving me food for thought to challenge my own ideas), over there I was belittled for not knowing enough about the very topic I was asking questions about lol.

Y’all are some seriously smart folks and I wanted to appreciate you and this platform for all the precious knowledge you’re willing to share! <3

I visited the Royal Palace today since they have opened their greenhouse for the public for a few days. My love for plants transcends my hate for the monarchy so I had to have a look.

It is absolutely obscene the area their palace occupies. Like, you could walk a 5km round through their gardens and still not see half of it. Paired with a ginormous palace. And not a single piece of grass is cut in the wrong way.

The most ironic moment I had there was when I overheard some guy talking about refugees being privileged, while walking around the palace gardens of a literal nepo baby.

We should 100% make this a public ground in the middle of a 2 million people city.

A far right politician in Belgium had a liver failure because of being a gluttonous pig and eventually he got saved by a doctor with a migration backgroup. Can’t make this shit up.

lol gives me the anime Monster vibes where a neurosurgeon works his ass off and goes out of his way to save a child and he ends up being a psychopath murderer.

Currently I don’t have any disposable income, but if I manage to get my shit together this year I probably would contribute a little bit. I find your posts really useful, and I hope they keep coming and are properly archived for future reference.

I wonder if you could get it in front of a “true crime” demographic in a more mainstream space. That might be a way to both broaden audience and make it easier to find people who would tip. A potential issue in a place like this is people may be more money poor, even if they’d like to be able to tip (though couldn’t hurt to try anyway).

Don’t worry, I plan on unleashing a discussion about it, where I will make my stance clear. Apparently there was also a vote at the last national meetings to denounce stalinism and maoism and to allow checking if future resolutions aren’t due to authoritarian influences. A lot of people in the party that I vibe with approved the vote.

I wholeheartely agree. They are near irrelevant but they don’t even want to work together with organisations they deem to be authoritarian.

Also on the topic of “maoism” since 1911 China had been in a constant state of civil war and faced a foreign invasion that seeked the subjegate and exterminate the entire country maybe the “Authoritarianism” in a result of that constant state of terror

One of my favorite activities for when I’m bored is to go on football hooligan Instagram pages and call them Nazi shits. You’d think that people posing with a Sieg Heil and Totenkopf flags would be okay with that but for some reason they always get defensive and argue about how they are just ‘concerned right wingers’ and ‘hitler was socialist, you know’. Like, you are posing as a literal Nazi why are you so ashamed lol?

Anyway I took a week of vacation this week. I always forget to do that except for in the summer so I end up with lots of surplus weeks at the end of the year. But for this year I wanted to do something different so I decided to actually take my vacation days for a change. Bought two books, ‘The Vegetarian’ by Han Kang and ‘Strange Pictures’ by Uketsu. They were the two best selling options at the store so I just got them. I always have a hard time picking fiction works because I often get bored by fiction quickly so I figured ‘how bad can it be?’. Looking forward to read this week as well as visit a botanical garden and go to a concert.

I just went to my first union meeting. It was on a thursday morning so there were a lot of retirees. But there were some younger people. I was very nervous since it was my first time and I didn’t know anybody. But eventually I could connect to some people.

Did you like what was discussed? I have no idea of the ideological framework of FNV and I always wondered how radical things are over there.

It was a small meeting for Worker Memorial Day, and a lunch afterwards. There was not much discussion on their ideology but one person did call herself leftist, and another person talked about discrimination women and LGBT people face in Amsterdam, and others were in agreement about what was said. I heard nothing bad.
