The Iowa Supreme Court has removed from the bench a magistrate who questioned the veracity of an alleged sexual assault victim because he was a teenage male and asked whether a defendant in a separate case was a “w------.”

Magistrate David J. Hanson, who is based in Fayette County and has practiced law for more than 36 years, is “simply and unalterably unsuited to be a judge,” and is “unable to preside over any proceeding involving a sexual assault,” the court ruled on Friday.

Its decision to remove Hanson from the bench takes effect in 10 days, assuming Hanson has not resigned before then.

      Wetback.

I had to look up his name to find other sources because I couldn’t figure out what the hell it could be either. I haven’t heard it used in so long, I’d forgotten it existed.

Thing is, that’s not even the worst thing the fucker ever said on record. Fucker definitely has zero suitability to be a magistrate.

          Yeah, definitely old.

He claims to have not know it was a slur, that it used to just be a term. Which is probably true as far as that goes, but it just makes it worse because it means he’d be way out of anything resembling awareness, and it would mean that he’d basically spent his life isolated among racists if it was that common around him. So, you know, not exactly magisterial material.
