Due to overwhelming support for unilateral defederation from feddit.uk, we will be doing so tomorrow at 8:30pm Moscow time. Please see the previous thread for context.
We wanted to give everyone a heads-up since after we defederate, numerous account actions and deletions will NOT update on the defederated instance due to coding limitations in lemmy. This includes:
-Post edits and deletions
-Account edits (bio, profile picture, display name)
-Account deletions
In the future this will likely be fixed, but due to the dev work required it’s not feasible to change in the short term. If you have any account or post changes you want to make, please do so before 4/27 8:30pm Moscow Time, or when this post is 24hrs old.
Thanks to everyone who provided their feedback. We will continue to fight transphobia and reactionary rhetoric on this instance for the safety of our users
Using Moscow time is still such a good bit
For convenience, that’s 1:30 a.m. April 28th in Beijing.
and 1:30 p.m. April 27th in Langley
Thanks Langley comrades for covering the night shift for us
UP WITH TRANS
Down with CIS
UP WITH ENBIES TOO!
before we defederate, can someone please tell them to suck me?
Hexbears should note there is a Fediverse memes comm on their instance:
what does this have to do with them sucking me
Well you have to tell them somewhere, right?
I would like to voice a dissenting opinion that feddit.uk should not be de-federated and instead all
top level domains should be de-federated rendering the feddit 2nd level block unnecessary.
Another one down. I’ll get my isolationist hexbear back one day
kneecap go on hexbear
Seen some vile transphobia in that instance, just from a short look. Horrible fucking place.
LIZZY’S IN A BOX IN A BOX
Thatchers still dead.
I asked to defederate as well in my small instance, but I think our admin is sleeping or partying because he had not answered yet. Waiting until Monday for him to answer before I’m going to make a fuss on the irc channel.
More like feddit.PooKay
Feddit.ukkk
I didn’t vote either way but this was the right decision and I approve
Fexithexitin simple terms, what does defederating mean? I’ve never heard of this instance at all, so what would change?
Posts and comments from their instance will no longer appear on Hexbear, and vice versa. feddit.uk users will not be able to post or comment on Hexbear from their feddit accounts, and vice versa.
So if someone from there wanted to spout some bullshit they’re unable to
Sweet. Thanks for the explanation
However, as it says in the OP, copies of all your posts and comments you made with your Hexbear account before defederation, will remain visible on Feddit.uk, regardless of if you edit or delete them on Hexbear.
