China restated its case that COVID-19 may have originated in the United States in a white paper on its pandemic response released on Wednesday after President Donald Trump’s administration blamed a lab leak in China.

Both scenarios are equally likely.
What methodology and what causal chains can you share that support such a position?
The scientific community is largely in consensus that Covid originated naturally. Which means that both the US and Chinese government’s accusations against each other are on equal footing…by being equally wrong.
The report from China is not claiming that it originated in a laboratory in the USA. It is claiming that patient zero may have been in America not in China and that the US may have deliberately hid information about the timeline of the natural emergence of the disease in order to bolster the narrative that it originated (naturally or otherwise) in China.
China bad obvs
Wouldn’t be the first time the US government has blamed the local emergence of a new disease on another country because that country was the first to report on it. “Spanish” Flu much?
We all know it came from China. It’s in the name for fucks sake.
But anyway this is clever because he knows Americans are dumb enough to believe and he’s right. They will.
First there was no disease, then it’s not human transmissible. Next it came from Italy, followed by coming from American whitetail deer, then United States military bases, then… etc.
