They could be targetting aid workers/bakers/etc. more so than the people eating the bread, though I think the story is fake and just as likely to be some reactionary trying to discredit reporting on Israeli war crimes by spreading false rumors. [edit: see reply]

My friend in Gaza told me abt the drugs found in flour (not that it’s mixed with flour, but inside bags hidden in the flour) which makes me feel like it’s real. It’s possible he got misinformed as well but it seems unlikely?

Sure, if you’ve got a friend in Gaza who said it, I believe them. It just seemed like something invented by zios to mess with a western audience online, but if Gazans believe it (and they would be the people who know in this case) then I think it’s most likely true.

The version of the story where it’s just a smuggling mechanism and not itself a poisoning attempt also seems way more plausible. It’d be strange if Israel wasn’t trying to promote dangerous drugs, honestly.

Is it possible that aid workers are doing this not to poison Gazans but to sneak in critical medications? There are a ton of people in Gaza with horrific injuries which will leave them in immense pain. Oxycontin is relatively safe for most people to use for pain suppression and is very effective. Obviously if it is mixed in with the flour that is not the case. But if there are pills in bags in the flour then this seems plausible.

It doesn’t really make sense to me since Israel controls everything that goes in and out of Gaza and I’m sure they check the flour bags as well to make sure nothing else is in there.
