Yeah, one cannot defend themselves from external threats if they can’t defend themselves from their own brain. But you can always push a friend who doesn’t have any ideations to defend you if necessary.
I’m in the same boat. These days I feel like it’s mostly under control but occasionally a bad day happens and if I had the means … Well, it doesn’t take much effort to pull a trigger and I know it.
I’ve decided the best way I can support and help should violence erupt is to cultivate other skills, like learning some EMS skills or having a garden. Still learning but I think those things might ultimately be more helpful than the gun anyway.
Yeah, that’s the prime sign. Everyone who’s trans and does not have ideations should buy a firearm right this instant before they can’t.

I appreciate the qualifier of not having ideation. I’m not trans but I do have suicidal ideation and decided that gun ownership would be a bad idea.

I have a few folks who have my back, and I carry an IFAK with me in case I need to render aid to someone who is hurt.
