Discovering the hidden tunnel under the well in Brightstone Cove Tseldora only to get eaten by a mimic is one of those moments you can feel fromsofts devs laughing their asses off when designing the level

And it definitely needed to have the chain pointing to you so it’d be your fault

Noita has chest mimics. They’re often reasonably easy to spot and there’s no reason not to just attack a chest before you touch it

What you don’t tend to find out until much later is that it also has health pickup mimics in a game where healing is very tough to come by outside of those pickups

And also sometimes you get health pickup mimics from inside non-mimic chests

Those chests will guaranteed survive at least two hits from any weapon in the game, just have any sort of tactical restraint and you’ll never encounter this problem. If you hit it once and a health bar appears, keep swinging, if not then don’t. Simple easy

Also, DS2 mimics have visible teeth, as well as a completely different chest model with extra locks on the front of it.

Dark souls mimics have the chain pointing the opposite direction. You can always tell if you take the time. Or attack every chest.
