Shit like this is going to make me start saying he’s not even a socdem.
Just like Bernie and AOC
It really is hard to see any difference between any of them now

Many such cases :(

Smugposting is counterproductive, but keeping a firm stance of contradicting socdem cope is reasonable
Honestly, given that it’s one position out of many and the vast majority of the appointees on the committee are better, this is fairly minor (at least so far). The concessions with respect to the NYPD are much more drastic.
the party is truly only as strong as its discipline. this is what i’m learning.
That’s a good learning comrade
Every. Goddamn. Time.

I’m definitely getting a lot of mileage out of this one. Wish I wasn’t.
I just read a DSA piece that boils down to “Well what is betrayal? There are many diverse interests and in politics you must compromise during negotiations and
”
What no party discipline does. Honestly, people are going to view this (if he really sells out in the end) as the DSA being victims of Zohran, but it’s the other way around. A proper party would support him, educate him, and keep him in line.
Cant have party disciple if you dont have a party
DSA is not a party
Correct, which is the whole reason this problem keeps happening and will happen forever until it becomes one.
This is why Trump loves him
Edit: decided I’d put in some effort instead of just being a smartass. The person appointed was a lead of OpenNYCforall. Their policies are here. Basically they advocate for building new cheap housing, which doesn’t address the fact that NYC has far far far more empty housing than houseless people
“Oh we’re the same! You lied to get elected too! I do like you now! Go ahead it’s ok, tell the media you think I’m a fascist, it’s cool now that I know you’re lying.”

Me looking for that DSA-NYC member who posts here and said Mamdani could help with rent control from day one.

Well, he can. That’s how the Rent Guidelines Board works. He’s able to change the voting balance of the board immediately because one of the nine members serves directly at the mayor’s behest.
The current voting balance is 5-4 in favor of raising rent, and 8 of the board members serve terms that aren’t set to expire. One of the members in favor of raising rent is the one serving at the behest of the current mayor, Eric Adams. They’ll be changed day one of a Zohran mayoralty, and then vote the next time the RGB is set to convene regarding rent of rent stabilized units.
I know you all love to hate Zohran, but this remains the most likely and simple one of his campaign promises to implement, and it will be strengthened over time by his further 8 appointees to the rent guidelines board during his term.
So what will you do when he picks a guy who also votes to raise rents and couches it as the right thing to do at a tough moment?
What will I do if Zohran’s at-will appointee votes to raise rents?
DM me, I’ll personally pay for a month of your rent if that happens
Thats a safe bet no matter what its on cause I have adhd too bad to ever remember this even if I win lol
I mean literally dm me and I’ll leave it unread
Well, he could. He’s just decided not to.
Not at all true btw. It’s by far his most simple campaign promise to implement
So it’ll be the most frustrating that he didn’t implement then

man. people here got mad at me when i said it was strange everyone was getting their hopes up :/
Happened to me, too, comrade. The sting of 2016 is still too fresh for me to forget so easily.
Oh. That’s depressing. I was hopeful at least for his housing policy, since it seemed like an area the mayor could actually have some serious influence. This doesn’t look like a good sign for that.
Let’s go!!! Third Step of Zohran’s ghoullification, soon he’ll contradict his promises as he becomes another Bernie/AOC, yey! I love American mainstream politics!!!
It’s been funny seeing all the Mamdani shit already showing up on eBay
If only someone could have warned you, please disregard all those people with red flag and hammers who where screaming this the whole time
