Has it become part of your daily routine? Is it useful for one season out of the year?

Wow, you have some long lasting items! Very cool to have been gifted these things
I forgot my JBL bluetooth speaker (2017) but it’s on its way out right now — I was using it this afternoon to blast Christmas music while taking the lawn and it was staticy and turning off randomly.

This t-shirt every year since 2015ish.

Steam Deck is the first thing that comes to mind, I use it everyday.
There are a few EDC items I got as gifts that I use nearly everyday as well:
- Leatherman Surge
- Leather holster for Surge and other gear
- Benchmade 551-1
- Shokz Openmove bone conductive headphones
A Snuggie blanket. Got it from an ex and thought I’d hate it when I got it since it was pretty popular to hate on them at the time. I’ve had it for over a decade now and it’s so perfect for playing video games or using a computer when it’s cold.
Sounds luxurious, I might have to look one up
They still make those, very interesting
I got an Atari STE when I was 14 for Christmas. I’m 48 and it’s still going strong. Best Christmas present I ever had. Sure, it spent 20 years in the attic while I was living my 20s and 30s, but I refurbished it about 5 years ago and I still love it. Got my kids playing it now and then, although Golden Axe doesn’t really compete with some of the PS5 stuff they’re into.
That’s so good! Yeah, they didn’t have all the research about building the perfect addictive game back then.
PS 5 got it five ish years ago
Warcraft 3 got it over 20 years ago. It will cease to exist when I replace my current desktop.
A battery organizer that holds 100 batteries.
Pajama pants (daily–great gift).
This ridiculous, incredibly warm, giant hoodie that is only practical to use outdoors at home.
A mushroom knife (for foraging and cleaning mushrooms).
A pasta roller (very infrequently used, but it does make its way out).
We normally don’t gift unless an excellent idea comes up. We were struggling with our ice maker not keeping up (Ice water constantly, cocktails in the evening, etc) and my wife got me a countertop nugget ice maker (chewy ice). It is no good for daily ice water which needs big cubes to melt slowly but I turn that sucker on every day a 3PM and my evening drinks are much improved!
The two gifts I have absolutely used the most out of all other gifts are a very soft blanket I got last year, alongside a pair of over the ear bluetooth beats. Got both last Christmas and they’re the things I use the most. Most other gifts I haven’t used as much.
I honestly can’t remember. I haven’t been gifted anything in about 7 years now. I guess this sweater? I think I got it as a gift, I’d never buy Hilfiger clothes myself.
My wife has knitted me several pairs of socks over the years. I am pretty certain that she has given me at least a couple at Xmas. I still have them all and wear them at weekends.
However, other than that, I don’t think that I have given or received anything that is not consumable - food, drink, toiletries, candles, outings etc - for a very long time.
AirPods Pro 2. Love em.
The first thing that springs to mind is a Moka coffee maker which I use almost daily. I got it around 2021 IIRC and expect to be able to use it for a long time.
Creality Ender 3 v1 3d printer. Wasn’t called v1 because there was only one version but they’ve released several models since then. It’s a bare bones kit, no bells and whistles. No auto leveling. No run out detection. I had to add thermal runaway myself. I absolutely love it. I love difficult things.
I did get it a big brother a few years later. (sovol SV06 plus)
That’s a great gift! Did the giver know you would enjoy the challenge?
100%. I love tinkering and had been talking about getting one for about a year.
A fountain pen, a few books.
