My absolute fab faves that have died a horrible death are a pair of norwegian over the knee fair isle socks in pure lambswool - mended many times and now have completely disintegrated. Alas, moth got into them some years ago and they never fully recovered. Still, 1983 to 2025 is a fair lifespan for a sock. I mourn their passing and keep looking out for replacements.
I did socks yesterday. Said goodbye to many beloved socks that had been repaired too many times.
I have to admit I skived off yesterday - didn’t get as far as the socks until now. And yes, I fully agree that socks can be beloved.
