A New Hampshire Episcopal bishop has garnered national attention for warning his clergy to finalize their wills and affairs, preparing for a “new era of martyrdom.”

“This is My commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you. [a] 13 No one has greater love than this: that he lay down his life for his friends.
He’s saying if you decide to stand up for others, you may be killed in doing so.
More than—he’s saying that the clergy in his state must be prepared to place their bodies on the line for the protection of the vulnerable. Basically, “for those who have already proclaimed that they stand up for others, get your affairs in order.”
Exactly. There was a clergyman from California that responded to this on NPR. He took issue with it, saying that if he dies who will look after his flock. I don’t want anyone to die, but it sounded like an excuse to not put himself between ICE and the vulnerable.
Not only that - he’s saying that NOW is the time to do so. One of the good ones; we need to make sure his name is remembered.
