No its not. Its allowing yhe US to crumble by accepting illegal orders. The military wants this too. Its time for everyone to learn the lesson, your laws only mean anything backed by violence, and the monopoly on violence wants this. Organize, these institutions should never have been built.
Military is the enemy
Is the US military by now really, as some want to imagine, populated by courageous conscience-torn patriots with a rock-solid allegiance to the constitution, prepared to take the huge personal risk of disobeying orders out of love for the laws and people of the USA? Or is it a bunch of young people who are bored until they see some action, who’d rather do as they’re told and get through in the hopes of better opportunities later, commanded by the remaining generals Trump has picked for their loyalty to him above the country? Probably somewhere in between, but some journalists’ hope that the military’s moral sense and commitment to their oaths will lead to mass disobedience of illegal orders seems highly optimistic. The US military has a long history of terrible atrocities, and although it messes people up and they may struggle to live with what they have done afterwards, they still tend to do it.
The military is bound to the constitution too. They should disobey an order to start a war when congress had not approved it.
Except they’ve already proven they will blindly follow Trump’s orders even if they’re illegal. They wouldn’t have killed those Venezuelan fishermen or kidnapped Maduro otherwise.
It’s time to wake up and understand that there are no checks on Trump’s power anymore, Congress and SCOTUS are now subservient to the whims of the orange toddler. The only way back from this is a popular uprising followed by trials of every person who allowed this to happen, as well as extensive de-programming of the MAGA cult followers.
Fascists, like many other groups (especially criminal gangs) require a moment where the acolyte breaks the law visibly, so that they are bound to the group forever. Having the military do criminal things means the military has to fear what a lawful administration would do to them.
A lawful administration that comes in has two major options: prosecute everyone involved and risk it all, or prosecute only the top 10% and let the rest get off, like they did in Nurenberg. Biden chose option #3: prosecute the low-level offenders (Jan 6) and let the top people get off.
That extraordinary act of cowardice is what got us to the point where we are.
