I have already downloaded it as an extension, it is simply not allowing me to set it as default. It shows me the button, but does not work when toggled.

You can add easy any search engine, most simply with an right click on the corresponding search bar, selecting Set as seach engine from the context menu. After this go to the setting of the search engines and mark the search engine as default.

You’ll find in the Forum (maybe the most exhaustive existing) list of search engines, including their insert code to paste it direct in your search engine list https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/46609/guide-vivaldi-search-engines-collection

    From the help pages:

"Change the default Search Engine You can set any of the search engines listed in Settings > Search Engines as the default Search Engine.

    Option 1

Go to Settings > Search > Default Search Engine; Select your preferred Search Engine from the dropdown menu.

    Option 2

Go to Settings > Search > Search Engines; Select the Search Engine you want to set as default; Tick the box for Set as Default Search."

    Qwant is an option.

I did both of those. It works for the ones that come available, but simply won’t work with Qwant. I am able to click the options, it just does not switch.

I just fiddled around with it and got it to work this way:

Open qwant in a new tab. Right-click in the empty search text field and click “add as search engine.” Then go to settings > search > default search engine etc. and make it a default. I don’t know if the qwant extension does anything tbh.

I came across a note that qwant isn’t available everywhere as a pre-set-up search engine. Who knows why that is so…
