Eventually I just gave up trying to widdle it down and tried to melt the glue stick directly. Fyi jic you ever find yourself in a similar arts and crafts related emergency, they will catch on fire if you over do it.
“Whittle”. Just FYI.
Ah, yes, the “Oh, I have a thing due tomorrow, can you help?” at dinner time. Been there.
Let’s see, for my son, I built a Venus Diorama in one weekend. I got an A on that.
Also, I built, tested, and compared two simple solar oven designs for my step-son’s seventh-grade science project. Then, I wrote the paper in his voice, because he had to spend the weekend with his dad. I got an A on that one, too.
I fully enjoyed doing both, I was surprised at how well the solar ovens worked.
That’s awesome! How did y’all decide on building solar ovens?
This was my first school project and there’s no real grade, but I have to admit I got way more into it than I was expecting. Kinda looking forward to doing more stuff like that.
In Australia you can cook bacon and eggs in the sun with little more than a tray
Good luck! And thanks for the warning about burning glue sticks 😅
If anybody ever needs to melt hotglue without a glue gun try using a hot knife on the glue stick instead of using a direct flame since its less likely to burn or get the glue sooty; just a fair warning its still pretty finnicky.
Dang that is a great idea. I just wrapped it up. Luckily had finished most of it already before we ran out. Just had to put a few more touches on
Damn homie, I got like a 100 pack or so of those thinner hot glue sticks, but no glue gun… 😂🤣
I’ve barely even needed one glue stick since I got that bag, I just used a mini torch lighter to melt it when I needed it.
I didn’t know kids could participate in Mardi Gras. Seems… uncharacteristic.
? We had a whole day of Mardi gras family stuff last weekend in my small town. Our chicken run is mainly for the kids and so is the parade after. Mardi Gras is a holiday like Christmas is a holiday. Drunk tourists suck everywhere but have little to do with the lived experience of people who celebrate Mardi Gras.
Edit: not to make it sound like some puritan thing. We were drinking, grilling and riding on floats/trailers while listening to loud music but it is still a day of family fun and excess and not like the french quarter silliness portrayed in popular culture.
Mardi Gras in New Orleans is largely for families, there are daytime parades all over the city in the week prior. The most significant debauchery is localized in the French Quarter and at some of the late night parades
This is just a mini float for a school project and parade. This is the last week before the Mardi gras break so a lot of schools have a little mini parade to end the school week. But there are also a lot of family friendly parades throughout the city over the season
Including an official mini float parade. 'tit Rex
With the exception of Krewe du vieux (which there are some sex jokes and references but nothing too scandalous) , really most of Mardi gras is pretty tame unless you take your kid to go hang out in a seedy bar or to walk down bourbon. Even then, most likely the worst they would see would probably be partial nudity.
