perhaps it was my fault for not reading much theory, but i really really like the insight harper shares in this video, explicitly that we are improving ourselves not because we want to be better workers for capitalist exploitation,

but that we are be the best we can so we can be people in progressive movement that people look up to.

people can look at and say “i can admire this person”.

the mindset of the becoming more educated/competent/fit to better advance proletarian causes reminds me of that scene from the phasmid to harry from the game disco elysium.

Thank you. I also have one more thing to say to you: that woman – turn from the ruin. Turn and go forward. Do it for the working class. if IsHighestPolitical(“communist”)

The way I see it is that being fit is simply an enormous asset for those looking to be a part of the vanguard. It’s very difficult to help others if you can only handle minimal physical work

  • I really hate this framing, it gives into the fascist idea that leftists living in this century are all slobs. Who spread this lie? We should spread self improvement not because the fascists claim we’re all lazy, but because to kill fascists, you need to be fit and healthy.

tbh the military has to teach their soldiers to brush their teeth twice a day because they will actually have people not brush if they don’t. just recently they had a circumstance where the us military ship found tshirts and rope flushed down their toilet systems.

ultimately we are still try to pull members into our causes from these types of people too? we should be teach people the bare brick basics and installing some framework of building blocks of what a ideal communist/socialist looks like, especially the youth
