Just no need for streaming services. I love my dedicated mp3 player ( even FLAC!)

    Innioasis Y1.

You can install Rockbox on it to make it “better” (subjective I guess) or keep it stock and still use it.

One of the reasons I installed Rockbox on mine are for the themes. I can share a photo to those interested to see what it looks like. Links to everything below!

Innioasis Y1 (they’ve increased the price since I got mine, was $50 a few months ago)

Innioasis Y1 Updater (used to install the Rockbox firmware, or update the normal firmware. NOTE: You can use both the original firmware AND the Rockbox firmware for a “best of both worlds” scenario!)

Innioasis Y1 Rockbox Themes (I believe this is the git that I got all my themes from, but if it isn’t I can provide the actual one later when I am home!)

Battery has been good for me, personally, with Rockbox and a sick ass theme (the Snowoasis Y1 DARK theme). I’ve got ~5000 songs on it, and it’s only taken up ~45GB of space!

What sort of vehicle are you in? That looks so high up for a train, but so low for a plane.

I think someone told me about those devices, can’t remember what it’s called- how do you like it? Love the yellow color, looks super pretty

That’s an iPod. Apple’s dedicated music player, which they made obsolete with the release of the iPhone which could do what the iPod did but also make calls. The last iPod was the iPod Touch if I am not mistaken, which was basically an iPhone without the phone part.

very strange comment in a community with this in the sidebar: “A community dedicated to the growing trend of using devices for a singular purpose, rather than relying on (often digital) “do everything” devices, like a smartphone.”

I was browsing via all and didn’t really notice the community. I thought someone was trying to identify a device and tried to provide information, but apparently it was a device that looked similar to the iPod instead of the iPod itself.

The iPod is something I still remember being sold everywhere back when I was still a kid, so it stuck in my memory.

I still own several and use them frequently. One is a Touch with a weak battery another Nano with meager storage. The best of the lot is an ancient classic iPod that I’ve upgraded the storage from a 32GB 1.8” spinny disk to a 256GB m2 SSD. Works quite well. It has led a rough life and is fugly, but I keep it in my car for tunes without issue. There are kits to get them to 1TB or more I think. Neat way to breathe new life into them.

I’d also be interested in device details. I’m using an old Sony nwz a15. It does the job but it is slow as shit and I haven’t even put my entire library on there so I’m looking at other options.
