Technically correct. It’s possible to commit a crime but still be found not guilty due to insanity or other circumstances

This was something I didn’t expect to find weird when I visited the US - you guys have giant billboards for lawyers everywhere

(The one that stuck out was always “the attorney that rocks!” with a picture of a dreadlocks metalhead lawyer, loved that one)

And it’s always really person-focussed, not the business - elsewhere you might get an advert saying “Call XYZ Associates”, there it’s “CALL TODD at XYZ”

A lot of Americans are in such dismal financial straights that they can only dream of striking it rich via winning the lottery, or a big, juicy lawsuit.

A big, juicy lawsuit is the reason I own my house outright and don’t have rent/mortgage payments. Which in turn means I can get by on the very little money I make on my hobbies.

So … yeah. Lawsuit for the win?

As a kid I remember commercials for a local injury lawyer during daytime tv in the summer. His commercials were very memorable, just in the way he passionately talked. Now I see billboards for him and his son, and recently he was a sponsor at a college basketball event I attended. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug because I’m actually rather fond of him, in a stupid way.

In my area, he’s the only lawyer I see on billboards, or at least that I notice. When I visited Vegas, there were so many. (In my area, billboards are all nonsensical and if you look up what it’s supposed to be for, it’s always AI. Can you guess where I live? Sigh.)

Oh yeah, we seem to love them. There’s a lawyer for motorcyclists, I see it everytime I drive down the strip of road where I live.

Listen, my client is not a pedophile.

He may be morally dubious, he may have committed manslaughter, he may have bribed the supreme court a few times, he may be a pedophile, but at least DOW is over 50000.
