Played a lot of Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress in my day, and the difference is that the Rimworld devs have always seemingly reveled in acts of cruelty while the DF devs tend to nerf them.

But I agree on the community aspect, not that every part of the community is good, but it’s a big community with a lot of good in it.
