Our first application got denied for not having an affiliate link directly on our site.
I explained we can’t even USE the API without them first approving it; however, lesson learned. It seems Amazon only uses AI to determine the eligibility (and respond to emails) so there is a 0% chance I get to talk to a real human about an appeal
Currently in the >3-year wait with Social Security. In the meantime, I have a dream of finishing a project I’ve been working on with my wife.
The core idea is pretty simple, it would sort products by the actual unit price (price per pound/ounce/liter) so you can instantly see what the best deal is.
On Amazon/Walmart there is currently no way to do this. I assume this is so users spend more time on their sites (and spend more money).
I originally just wanted a way to search the site for the cheapest rice/lb and the “lowest price” option just suggests microwavable single-servings.
Right now, we’re stuck at a pretty frustrating roadblock.
To actually use the Amazon API (and make the site work with live listings), I need to qualify for their program. The main requirement is getting ~10 affiliate sales.
The mockup (with fake items) is up at pennyperpound.com so you can see what I mean.
If anyone has a second and wants to help a comrade out, it would mean the absolute world to my wife and I.
The Super Cheap Way:
The cheapest item I could find was a single-serving of ramen (~$0.29). Every little bit counts and gets us one step closer.
The “I Was Going to Buy Something Anyway” Way:
If you were already planning an Amazon purchase, you could use the link generator on this page to add our affiliate code to whatever you were buying. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and it helps us out a ton.

While the setup (and name) is obviously american-centric, this would work for any of the following regions (best attempt at finding the cheapest item per region):
If somebody could help us find the cheapest item per region, that would also be a big help as we can’t see the “free shipping” options anywhere outside of the US to make a direct link for .fr/.de/.it/etc
