Cool. Stop trying to tax their foreign income then. Helping your citizens escape a warzone you created is near bare-minimum standard for “country” status, let-alone “first-world superpower”.

These aren’t all expats. Most are normal Americans who were going about normal travels. There was no warning for anyone to change plans ahead of the American lead terror attacks.

Uncle Sam’s not going to care about that if they have to make money where they are to find their way home. “We won’t turn our overseas tourists into stranded expats who owe us taxes for the privilege of affording to come home” is the implicit promise being broken.

Expats are supposed to be able rely on the US government to help them get home in a pinch as-well, else they might as well ALL renounce their citizenship.

You seem to have a broken definition of what an expat is. A tourist is not an expat.

Expats belong on the bottom of the list for people to evacuate.

      Of course they matter!

Photos of their corpses will be splashed across every news outlet in a vain attempt to gin up support for this war in the US.

Dude, their feud with Anthropic is over their desire to use AI for mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous killing machines.

The nazis are literally building skynet and big brother. Abandonment should be the least of Americans concerns. The immediate threat is already enslavement and mass murder.

That was to be expected. How was the State Department supposed to know that (checks notes) its boss would start a war in the middle of peace negotiations?

The story goes that Philip K Dick, the notable sci-fi author, wrote his famous novel, The Man in the High Castle in part by choosing plot twists at random, using the I Ching. I see his fine opus at work here, too. 2026 is the year of the random plot twists.
