There’s an official Cyberpunk 2077 Trading Card Game coming and it’s taking orders on Kickstarter now - a lot of orders.
I didn’t know cd project red was doing so badly financially they needed assistance from their fans.
Kickstarter has become a pretty common way for companies to gauge interest in a new product or project. I don’t think having a Kickstarter means a company gets more money than they otherwise would have, since backers still get the product, it just means if there isn’t much interest, the company hasn’t invested a ton of money to make an initial batch and do initial marketing for something no one is going to buy.
When you’re trying something totally new, it never hurts to let the fans decide if they even want the new thing.
Everybody loves free money.
They split off from GOG, so they don’t have that income source anymore.
CP2077 lends itself nicely to a MTG-like game. I bet this would be super fun.
