Great Lakes region, USA. April 2026.
Getting on the river early was worth it for this show. These tree swallows descended on my part of the river in droves. Flying fast and low near the water and into the cattails, feasting on all the gnats and tiny flies. Look closely at these photos and you’ll spot their prey. A very cool experience IMO.

I thought that spot on the right was actually “on” my phone. I tried to rub it off.
The last picture reminds me of this toy.
