Smith has run out of her own bad ideas, so now she is importing some from Ontario?
That’s very generous of you to assume there’s a limit to how many bad ideas she can have.
Her head is empty. People just blow terrible ideas in her ear and wait for them to fall out of her mouth.
Calgary has horrible density problems. There’s multiple 4 lane roads through downtown. They should be ripping out entire roads not getting rid of bike lanes.
As a former winter-bike-courier in Ottawa, years ago…
properly done bike-lanes massively protect the lives of bicyclists.
Further, anybody who wants the economy to improve, you have to include as much of the population as you can in the economy, not lock-out as much as you can!
Including all the people who can’t afford motor-vehicles in the economy makes the economy healthier.
Anybody who rejects either, let-alone-both, of those facts, is just an ideologue who’s gaslighting about the issue.
It’s like calling women’s-rights “symbolic virtue-signalling”: it ISN’T mere symbolic, it saves lives, AND it increases the percentage-of-the-population who is actively engaging-in & contributing-to the economy.
Same with minority-race, or minority-gender, rights.
The greater the percentage of our people who’re contributing to our overall-success, the better for us as a whole.
Same with disabled people, too.
There are many subsets of our people who get subjected-to-higher-death-rate-due-to-prejudice-embodied-in-policies, & it’s time we outgrew all of that shit, once & for all.
( no, I don’t believe that misogyny is at the same magnitude-of-problem as bike-lanes, but the discussion was bike-lanes, therefore that’s the anchor to start with.
The principle, however, that systematic obliteration of our LivingPotential benefits some faction’s supremacism, which isn’t worth the cost to the overall is a principle that need become bedrock & automatically-correcting such distortions. )

just like the damn parks and libraries.
Clearly she understands that good cycling infrastructure requires additional changes in zoning in order to create more walkable, dense areas, and is calling the government out on not making these changes… right?
