I bought some merch. I’ve wanted to support a glitch show for a while, figured that if this one isn’t it then nothing is.
The finale of The Amazing Digital Circus is right around the corner too, so another chance to support as they release merch along with each episode. And if part of the profit goes to TADC’s author Gooseworx, which was also an animator previously, the support could incentivese her to keep on the animation market too.
I haven’t spent much time on that one, most 3D animation doesn’t really hold my attention the same way.
It is kind of funny to me how Glitch’s business model is basically making cartoons to sell toys just like He-Man did, but they seem to totally skip the costly action figure production issues in favour of plushies and printed media. I think it’s smart, and I hope it works out long-term so that they don’t have to rely on Netflix money too much.
Edit: missing words
Watched this yesterday. Pretty freaking sweet, IMHO. Very much hoping we get a lot more of it.
Ignoring this first one being a beach episode, the drama part makes the series feel like it will be not a gut punch, but a gut combo. I’m curious to see how it will go from there.
Also, about getting more of it, this makes me think, might take a little while. (CW: long-winded comment below)
Currently they have 4 pilots under their responsibility, The Gaslight District, Knights of Guinevere, GAMEOVERSE and Lackadaisy, the latter because they’re financing it, even if not their IP. This would likely stretch them thin for a while.
Besides, TGD has a highly unusual art style, GAMEOVERSE and Knights of Guinevere are 2D, and the latter seems hand-made. Plus they probably need to oversee Lackadaisy to ensure the money’s well spent. All pretty taxing stuff.
However, they could be rotating between TADC and the pilots they have approved and completed to have a more diversified release schedule once TADC finishes, instead of having only 1~2 series going on at any given time.
Also I have yet to finish watching SMG4, but being stretched might explain why Luke and Kevin finished it earlier this year, so they can better focus on Glitch Prod.
Beach episode, hehe.
Starting with a beach episode is pretty much embracing the coomers
