I told the Great Horned Owls to line up for a family picture and they all fell into order!!! Hahaha that’s the joke of the century. Great Horned Owls do what they want and never what you want! This just happens to be how I found them this morning!!


Owls have notoriously bad noses. Many will come in smelling of skunk because they don’t notice it themselves, putting skunk on their already extensive menu.
Honestly didn’t know that, that’s interesting. Makes sense but never really thought of it.
Sometimes a weakness can be a strength in the right circumstance!

Yes indeed! It usually doesn’t bother them unless they get it straight in the eyes. Then they might need help.
There’s a nice exhibit in the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh of a Great Horned hunting a skunk. The photo I took i think is better, but I found this one quick on google. It’s a very nice display.
Love the Mike Nelson-esque look of confusion on the skunk.
