Popular or classical, western or non-western, communist or even anti-communist, feel free to mention any and all kinds of music here.
-
Word Sound Power - I often think about how music stopped being brave gradually - whereas this album names actual Indian politicians as corrupt, names atrocities by the Indian state, and spreads the message of communism with a hell of a bop.
-
Angine de Poitrine because it suddenly came over my feed, apparently it’s a meme? It’s alright - just a lot of chromatic riffing that sounds especially good if you’re into guitar music

And she was lying in the grass And she could hear the highway breathing And she could see a nearby factory She’s making sure she is not dreaming
See the lights of a neighbor’s house Now she’s starting to rise Take a minute to concentrate And she opens up her eyes
All of their songs are amazing. And that legendary Stop Making Sense live performance… Mamma mia.
I remember being high on dirtweed, lying on the grass, watching traffic on a nearby overpass the first time I heard And She Was. It was a once-in-a-lifetime nothing coincidence that just still makes me smile.
My album rotation in my 5 disc CD player for the past few days has been
- Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers - Buhaina’s Delight
- Clifford Brown and Max Roach at Basin Street
- Charles Mingus - The Sound of Jazz
- Clifford Brown and Max Roach - Study in Brown
- Albert King - Live
You like fusion at all?
Haven’t listened to it much, still need to explore the genre more. I do like Herbie Hancock and Casiopea.
Brand-X is what came to mind cruising through the list. Give it a spin if you can sometime.
Thanks for the rec!
Blakey and mingus are top tier, nice picks.
Mingus is definitely my favorite artist!

Billy Joel’s greatest hits. I know it’s slop but I can’t help loving it.
billy joel isn’t slop! he’s an amazing musician for sure. what are some of your favorites? the long italian restaurant one was always an epic classic for me haha
That song rules.
I’m mainly referring to his fun / cheesy hits that are loveable… he’s pretty self-aware with his silliness and sings those ones way over-the-top.
Going over the ones I just listened to that I like:
- Only the good die young
- Everybody loves you now
- Don’t ask me why
- Big shot
- Movin out
- Allentown
- Tell her about it
- Captain jack
- Its still rock and roll
- Lullaby
- Uptown girl
- You may be right.
movin out and uptown girl are totally classics for me! what do you think of “we didn’t start the fire”? i’ve listened to him for years and had no idea it was his tune
thanks for posting btw! you’ve inspired a new billy joel renaissance in me hahaha
Been listening to status update music, which is a fun album outside my wheelhouse. It’s also entirely free, which helps. Haven’t been keeping up with new releases so slowly dipping my toes back into 2026 releases.
wow the album is so in your face hahaha. really interesting, thanks for sharing!
Jane Remover/Leroy/Venturing is so damn good. Revengeseekerz last year really felt like they laced the music with amphetamines or something.
I’ve been enjoying the music! Again, it’s not my normal wheelhouse but the music slaps regardless.
Listening to Iron Lung (Live in Athens) from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard over and over again. Glorious stuff. https://bootleggizzard.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-athens-25
Kim Petras - Detour
And Tus Amigos Nuevos - La novedad. Dance Punk from Chile. Pretty great. https://uvarobot.bandcamp.com/album/triunfo-moral
