Hi all,
Thank you guys so much for helping to bump my campaign! However, as stated in the title, we still have a long way to go in terms of securing the money for the family’s house in two weeks’ time. If anyone here has any suggestions on how I can improve the visibility of this campaign, please do let me know in the comments or DMing me. Also, feel free to ask any questions about the family if you are interested! I’ll be more than happy to share their story with you guys and I feel this would be a more constructive way of bumping a post.

In the meantime, does anyone have any advice on whether it is advisable to wean off of Sertaline and Lyrica? The father was prescribed these medicines since his previous asylum stay and the dosage has gradually increased recently. Although his mental health has definitely improved, he experienced withdrawal symptoms after forgetting to take his meds one morning a few days ago. He then became suspicious that the doctors were trying to make him dependent on them. He has since calmed down, but he asked me if there were ways to be less dependent on them. I don’t have much knowledge on this matter and I absolutely DO NOT want to play fire with someone’s mental condition. But does anyone have any advice on this and what I should tell him?

Sertraline is what my wife got prescribed instead of her usual medication during pregnancy specifically because it is easier for the newborn baby to wean off of it. So there shouldn’t be withdrawal symptoms for a grown man.
I don’t know about Lyrica, it’s a seizure medication apparently? If he has PTSD seizures (my wife had those) then I would be wary of doctors as well. They didnt know what the fuck they were doing, prescribed dangerous levels of iodine (we found out years later, my wife was chugging like 4l waters a day which we thought odd but apparently related to that?? Her next doctor was horrified but then did something less stupid that had the doctor after that still shaking their head) and I am still really angry at them for their blase approach to my wifes health. So if that’s why he’s taking Lyrica have the doctor explain how it relates to seizures cause by PTSD and isn’t just the first “anti-seizure” medication of choice (if that really is the source for his seizures).
Hmm, I don’t know tbh. There were a few times after he was discharged from the asylum where he tried going off Sertraline… and I could tell he was more distressed or paranoid than usual from his messages. But I’ve definitely heard it should be easier to wean off.
As for Lyrica, I’ll tell him about this concern and see if he can get the doctor to explain the seizures issue to him. I’ll also inform him to see if he can request for any alternatives and to try to oppose any increases in dosage as I heard the withdrawal symptoms are quite bad.

Sounds like sertraline is working then somewhat? As for the seizures, it was pretty obvious with my wife where they came from, she would start dissociating, seize and when she came to still be in a triggered state of mind.
Thank you, she is doing much better now, improving her material conditions improved her mental state a lot and made the seizures stop altogether.
