Have you seen the Crosley IcyBall from the 1920s?
There’s a miniaturization of this type of mechanism that I’ve seen used to transport vaccines. There used to be air conditioners that used the ammonia cycle, but they were really bad and leaky. Extremely cool tech, but really not very efficient when compared to electricity.
Yeah it’s mostly just neat, but only practical in very specific use cases. And that IcyBall is quite the contraption. :)
I’d like to make one of those. I got no use for it, but it seems like a neat project
