It feels like I’ve seen missiles land with less velocity. The footage is intense. Feels bad, man.

I try not to as much these days, not really sure why. Might just be lifestyle changes mean I’m not in front of my triple monitor rig nor doing anything particularly interesting with my time lately.

But when I am/was working, and particularly before I developed a bunch of substance abuse habits, I would constantly second screen comfort movies and shows that I practically have the scripts for memorised. I found that “actively ignoring” a distraction would help me focus and stay in flow states. Again, likely ADHD/ADID gang shit.

But I’m trying to fully engage with the longform media I do consume now. Partially that’s just because I noticed I’d often miss things or find myself completely forgetting that I’d seen something then only have partial recollection when I’d realise I was rewatching something by mistake.

Mainly though its an active attempt to keep training my brain to maintain focus and not let my inattentive traits get worse. Seems to be working, too. I’m even getting way better at fully appreciating anime, where I used to find myself having to sorta choose whether I was going to follow the dialog OR appreciate the animation. Its nice.

It is hard to resist the urge to multitask when I’m watching stuff on a multimonitor setup and I imagine I’ll keep doing that in the case of active distraction focusing strats, but I definitely prefer putting my phone away to watch a movie or whatever for leisure these days. Feels better for my cognitive function overall and sorta “more respectful” to the people who made the media I’m consuming. (No intended moral judgment on second screeners here though, just a personal thing.)

ImagePipe is another useful tool for exif stripping and image resizing etc. Pretty powerful bit of software. Should be on fdroid as well.

Does Floris beta have swipe functionality? Its my only disappointment with Floris on my latest round of setting up a device.

Not bad! I think the rag add can be improved both IRL and emoji-style by tying it around the neck of the bottle rather than shoving it in the end. Rag-in-the-mouth of the bottle mollies have a bad rep for failing in minecraft so, yeah, could be something to think about.

If I remember to remember I’ll have a crack at it myself. Maybe attempt a vector version so it has toonish design clarity. The hand in your design is a great touch for showing the scale of the smolotov. Its good work.

Yeah. This and some other replies has really galvanised my decisions thus far. Steam really is a dick like that too, I feel you there.

Funnily enough a couple of months ago I set up a separate browser profile on my computer so I could just run steam chat in it via their web interface, there are some contacts I would lose touch with without it. Its not perfect but it is one way I’ve found to at least use that part of their platform without having a massive billboard of ads and deals fill my screen every time I just want to touch base with some g#mers.

Now I’m doing similar on this portable device for all sorts of things that don’t deserve my trust but do provide some value still with their webapp versions and can be ublocked, noscripted, etc etc.

I’ve been appreciating how Aurora keeps the installed apps up to date even just running with a non-logged in device. I’m really impressed by it. I think I’ll proceed as you suggest and go ahead and install some of my purchased apps through it. If anything chokes because I don’t have play service running for license verification then “oh well, get fucked, crack u later” etc.

One of the bigger things lacking, I am starting to remember/realise, is that I don’t have my old webdav etc server(s) set up this time around. I can solve that and get a bunch of usefulness back. Might even still have the old machine sitting around somewhere with my old calendar / birthday reminders etc.

Thanks for the app suggestions, I’ve only partially debloated so far, so the suggestions are v helpful.

It’s okay to let some of this stuff go. At least for a subset of the commercial software I should be fine downloading the paid full version unlocker companion app rather than everything being license checked by google.

Yeah. I guess I know this and am just sorta grappling with the fact that I just need to get my shit together and rebuild my decaying self hosted webdav/caldav stuff and put a bit more work into my local media hosting infrastructure etc.

I think that’s the biggest thing/things I’m missing from the setup that brought my previous devices from neat toy to something that was helping me keep my life from being chaos.
