President Donald Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against a British broadcaster has hit a surprise twist that may not sit well with the president.
The BBC has reportedly requested that Trump, 80, hand over his phone records and private schedules from around the time of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, according to The Telegraph.
Trump is suing the British broadcaster, claiming it defamed him by “intentionally, maliciously, and deceptively” editing two parts of his Jan. 6, 2021, speech to make it seem as though he had encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol.
I imagine it’s written in crayon and some of the pages are stuck together with ketchup
Every page is a bad scratchy crayon drawing, in random colours, of a stick man (with an arrow pointing at it labeled Trump) shitting on another stick man (labeled Biden).
Both names are spelled wrong and are barely legible.
…he can write?
Probably had a ghostwriter for his own diary.
Its kept by his head secretary.
Thanks to corruption in the SCOTUS, this can’t go anywhere as he will claim everything is executive privilege and doesn’t have yo be released.
It’s probably already cleaned too.
Opposing news source citing the same case.
One has to question the objectivity of the entire IBT “news” article when the title is so obviously editorialized. What’s more filing a $10 billion lawsuit for something like this is obvious weaponization of the entire legal system.
IMO the assertion that an extraordinary $10,000,000,000 lawsuit doesn’t require an equally and extraordinarily broad right to discovery is ridiculous, no matter what the IBT editorial says.
IANAL, but I’m not so sure they are wrong. Although I’m also not quite sure the standards needed to request documents. Do the things they are asking for have incriminating evidence against Trump? Maybe. But I don’t think you get to ask for things in hopes of finding something to help you. Pretty sure you have to have expectation of finding it. e.g. An employee telling you an internal memo exists, or that people regularly talk about an activity in internal emails. You could then request the memo and emails. Otherwise anyone could make up a claim and request private info.
Do they have reason to believe such details were discussed via phone, written in his diary, etc?
Trump is a piece of shit that absolutely is the cause of Jan 6th. IMO, a direct cause. But even if not that, certainly indirectly caused it. You can’t spout misinformation about the election as a president and expect that to not motivate anyone.
In Futurama, Earth voting a super villain to be president of Earth was supposed to be a joke. Not as much of a joke now. Lots of people voted for Trump for a similar reason as Professor Farnsworth voted for the villain.
The diary is an official record of every meeting and phone call the president makes. It would reveal if he was in personal communication with the rioters.
Soooo….not good news?
