It makes sense to use a ui device that most of the users are already familiar with prior to training.
I was going to say that this follows in the tradition of ww2 hand grenades being designed to approximate the size and weight of baseballs so that the soldiers would already be comfortable with them… but on double checking that it turns out it was just one experimental grenade that didn’t see much use oh well.
