It’s these childrens’ future, so I think it’s fair. Also put classes in public schools teaching them how to vote and what the voting process looks like.

It’s a 12 year old’s future too. Should they vote? How about guns? Should 16 year olds be in the army? It’s their future. They should be allowed to fight for it if they want. How about the mines? If a 16 year old wants to quit school and work in the mines full time, should they? It’s their future after all.

How would you feel if you were old enough to have . . . sexual intercourse . . . with a partner of your choice . . . and yet you could not drink in pubs.

The least poisonous of its siblings, yes. There is, in fact, an alcohol that 16 year olds can absolutely drink. Legally too! Isopropanol can be bought from your local store as hand sanitizer.

While it probably won’t kill you, the effects of the hangover is far far worse than typical ethanol. There’s a very good chance that anyone who drinks it will end up in the hospital. Turns out the nail polish remover the body makes from isopropanol is very dangerous.

But even that can’t compare to drinking methanol to get drunk, which is sure to make you blind, and then dead. Formaldehyde is even more bad for you than acetone is.

I’d feel the exact same way I feel right now given that’s the current British legal situation. Age of consent is 16, alcohol purchase is 18+.
