I’m a paying customer and I use it the whole day. I’m pretty pleased with the results, and happy to support EU tech.
To be frank, I would want Mistral to be a huge success. But if open weights and an EU firm (sovereignty) matter to my project, I’ll just go straight to open source models like Soofi.
Does anybody else have a similar experience?
I hope we can see more of them. I think they have what it takes, I use their models, but they need to play their cards right.
I pay for Mistral even though I barely use it these days since I am not extremely fond of AI in general. It is however the only non local AI I will use whenever I use one, I absolutely refuse to give any of my thoughts to US or Chinese models.
Some of big European companies block usage of mistral ,but they do use USA models .
For a beautiful moment after reading the headline, I thought this must be an uplifting piece about European weather systems.

The only unfortunate thing is there’s a paper where the authors tested a variety of models against being prone to (for example Russian) propaganda. And Mistral models were especially prone to amplify Russian propaganda.

I found it is less politically correct than the US frontier models. Not sure how it compares to the Chinese ones.
I got so frustrated with it’s answers I stopped testing it about a month ago, but it really reminded me of copilot. If you have to ask the same question over and over what’s the point.

The worst part is when they keep asking if you want them to answer your question. If you say “yes”, then they respond by asking if you really want them to answer the question.
