      This used to happen, vacuuming would cause interference on the TV. This was before cable tv.

        I’m just amazed by how narrowly targeted this joke is: the setting must have seemed so relatable and ubiquitous at the time, but is almost indecipherable now…

          I feel that most jokes about technology inhabit this sort of transient space. Like jokes about skippy CDs from the early 00s, about polygon boobs, about being glued to your phone. None of these exist for but a fleeting moment of time.
