Speaking as an owner of cats who are also deeply disturbed about white genocide: start cutting the gems with regular cat food. You can start with barely any regular and mostly the gem, then when they’re good with that increasing how much regular is in there. You may have to try a couple of different regular foods to find one your little colonizer is okay with.

Cats are remarkably dumb about this sort of thing actually and they can be permanently harmed by not eating until they clock the food
