Dad ran an auto repair shop for the last 45 years and says they are the single worst brand of vehicle you can buy, I don’t even think that’s why I hate them so bad though
He also said they are generally annoying customers
These ducks they put all over their interiors is the cringiest shit ever and I can’t even explain why it bothers me so much
If you follow any offroad forums you’ll notice the jeep people will use insufferable vocabulary such as “my hubby” or “fur babies” or “puppers”
What’s wrong with these people and why do they buy these cars?
I think old jeeps (pre Stellantis ownership or even older) are ok. Anyone who buys a brand new Jeep product is a gullible moron.
That said, even with the old jeeps that I can appreciate, I still don’t want one. At least for a daily driver. I hate the lip at the base of the door that my feet get caught on when trying to get out. The door latch on the frame always gets caught on my belt loops. They just aren’t comfortable either.
It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand.

These ducks they put all over their interiors is the cringiest shit ever
No, the custom ‘angry headlights’ are the cringiest shit ever.
Now I want to put ducks all over my Chevy, give it an angry eye mod and plaster “It’s a Jeep thing” stickers on the back.
Get an “It’s a Joop Thing” sticker.
The stampings on the fenders would say joop once the “ee” decal faded or rubbed off.
The stickers with paw prints instead of e’s confuse the fuck out of me. On what planet does 🐾 look like “ee”?
I read them as “Joop,” always.
now i wanna do this on my honda ruckus
I’m kinda glad to learn they’re custom. I didn’t think even US automakers were that tacky.
I agree with 100% of everything you just said. I can’t stand Jeep people. That fucking wave they do to each other… God it drives me crazy.
I’ll add RAM and Dodge owners to this list. They’re all assholes in a hurry.
They are douchebags but they aren’t brutally annoying like jeep people are
Fair, but they’re all part of the same conglomerate, so equal treatment
Something about jeeps gives me an irrational feeling of hatred though. I don’t like dodges or teslas either but those for some reason don’t give me the same intense feelings lol
I would put jeeps on par with harley davidson motorcycles in terms of annoying
Oh hell yeah. Hard agree.
I own one and don’t see anyone on the road calmer than us. It is a minivan though.
Durango is the main Dodge culprit
I assumed the ram after the jeep.
They have a wave? How did I not know this.
Oh yeah. When they pass another jeep they lift 2 or so fingers from the steering wheel or if riding with no doors hang their hand out the side kinda downward.
I thought that sort of thing was exclusive to motorcycles, as a sort of a, “What we’re doing is inherently more dangerous and requires a different skill set,” acknowledgement, but Jeeps are just… Cars.
Yep
I hate any vehicle that encourages social interaction. That’s why I drive a surplus police car: people don’t even wanna make eye contact with me!
If you are old school and it is a crown vic nobody gives you shit because it looks amazing and functions well when you remove the cop shit.
Taurus based interceptor. With the supercharged Mustang engine. It’s fun to drive, heh.
i believe the Taurus was FWD and couldn’t be optioned with a V8. maybe you’re thinking of the panther body (Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car). imo the panther body is the most iconic interceptor.
No, most of the Taurus interceptors are AWD, and all are v6. Mine is the 3.5l Ecoboost twin turbo, I got pretty lucky getting it.
The brand is expensive while marketing itself as rugged and for active people. So the target demographic is basically wealthy granola folk
Cosplaying hippies. Dad likely already bought them a ticket for next year’s Shambhala
It all seems pretty innocent to me
Yeah that pisses me off too - total wimps pretending they are outdoorsy badasses
You seem like absolutely no fun to hang out with lol.
I don’t own a jeep, but they are fine dude. If you want to hate a brand of car, go with the swasticars.
Do you actually think that they’re pretending to be badass? Isn’t it more likely that they just thought it looked neat?
For me, most of the time these things come down to, “It’s not what I would do in that situation,” which is a bit ineffable, so it’s easy to be annoyed by something that feels incorrect because I can’t really explain why I feel that way.
It… pisses you off that Jeep owners have some innocent fun?
They aren’t having fun tho, unless they like the pain and humiliation from keeping one running
I just want to know why the fuck they buy like every little fucking custom accessory for their jeep. Like we get it, you want to show everyone you are different while being exactly the same as every other jeep owner
Not all are like that. I bought a '04 TJ Wrangler Sport back in '16 that had the full compliment of cheap lift, shitty wheels, 35’s, and so on. The thing only had 64k miles on it and was a pavement princess that had never been off-road. I bought it and then promptly took it back to factory suspension, wheels, and +1 sized tires that rode as well as could be expected. Every piece of cheap crap they put on that thing was sold and paid for it’s return to factory specification. From there it was a great little cloth top Jeep that was fun to own and I smiled when I drove it.
In regard to your statement, I do despise the “I’m unique just like everyone else” crap they do to jeeps. I think it better to keep it simple and upgrade a thing only when it’s necessary.
The problem is they’re now so cheap and unreliable that that comes on pretty early.
It’s the angry eyes mod that kills me the most inside
At least they dont usually put one of those stupid little ladders on like Toyota people do
I wish there was an easy way to flip the angry jeep eyes upside down 🥺
Yeah, CONFORM ALREADY. Amirite guys? Please say I’m right.
The duck thing was a cute little idea someone had that was kind of nice and organic and then of course the internet does what it does and turned it into some weird competitive flex.
Car stereotypes are a little questionable. I mean, some of them make sense. For example, why spend all that money to buy and maintain a BMW when it’s just a kinda-sorta-OK car and not considered at all special in Germany, its country of origin. I’ve heard they handle great, and maybe that’s true, but how much ‘sporty driving’ are you doing stuck in traffic, really?
And way too many Americans drive pickup trucks. I estimate maybe 20% of them actually need a fucking pickup truck. 80% of them are a waste of gas and are passing far inferior collision safety rules. Ford was maybe on to something with the EV F-150…but then dealerships didn’t want them because they are greedy and knew that EVs require far less maintenance. Is there anything more 'Murican than that kind of bullshit.
Nissan drivers catch a lot of hate. But it’s just a cheap common car, so naturally there are a lot of them on the road. We tend to remember the ones that do something stupid, and don’t remember the ones that drive normally and are boring (selection bias). I started paying attention to this for a while, and for every Nissan with a busted bumper / fender I see, I see a lot more of them that don’t have one of those.
As for Jeeps, I don’t have a lot (of intelligent things) to say. Back in the day it was the “outdoorsy” people and “mudder” weekend warrior types that mostly drove them. Some of them were genuinely those things and some of them were just pretending to be on Facebook. I don’t know who drives them now. I will say one of the most arrogant & useless people at my last job drove a Jeep. It had the ducks, and a some douchey “attitude” type stickers, and a vanity plate.
I’m not sure about how annoying they are IRL, but I do notice that, on the road, they are hands-down the most reckless drivers. BMW drivers are the kind of people who don’t signal, giant pickup truck drivers will pass you on the right going 40 mph over the speed limit, but jeep drivers are the kind of people that will veer over three lanes of traffick and cut in front of a semi to make their exit.
I feel like Nissan Altimas with bumpers held on by duct tape are the worst offenders of the veering across lanes and cutting people off to make an exit.
I’ve definitely noticed that midrange white sedans (especially Hondas and Toyotas) with visible damage are the fastest vehicles on the road. Even the guys who drive sports cars don’t go as fast as a guy in a dented white Honda.
“ꓤƎꓥO ƎW ꓒIꓶꓞ SIHꓕ ꓷⱯƎꓤ NⱯꓛ ꓵO⅄ ꓞI” MF’ers
hyuck hyuck hyuck
I have an old jeep, and I agree, jeep people are cringe as hell. I inherited my jeep, and like it for sentimental reasons. But it is built like shit, and probably the least practical a vehicle could possibly be.
And also I swear the “jeep person” as we know them came out of nowhere in like 2010. At least around me they had a sort of reputation as a hippie car when I was growing up.
It happened when they released the “unlimited” wranglers, the ones with 4 doors. Once “fun moms” found out about em, that was it. That did 2 things: made jeep realize they didn’t need to be as rugged, and forced their “tough guy” audience to separate themselves with mods.
Yeah and just them becoming more like normal cars in general. Mine feels more like a tractor than a car, and has about as many luxuries. I never saw the duck thing or the angry eyes until after the JK had been out for a while.
I used to tell people being inside a jeep is a lot like being outside a jeep. Took a certain kind of person to be okay with that. And that’s not the case anymore.
Oh absolutely. In the end, I got rid of mine because of rust and overall growing failure list. It had 72k miles…
Picked up something more practical that passengers wouldn’t get sick in from the ride, while maintaining or beating it in off-road capability.
Also, yup, it was the JK, kind of coincidental that that’s the generation that made them a joke.
Who hurt you, OP?
I mean, I think Jeeps are a cringe, too, but wow, you are ANGRY. The rubber ducks are an improvement, IMO.
This community is literally called “I hate this thing.”
I used to call myself a jeep person, granted I’ve never owned one newer than 1983. The whole point of a jeep used to be that they were rugged, reliable, and most importantly utilitarian. All of that has gone out the window with the newer jeeps. Now they’re just a status symbol and a way for the terminally dull to attempt to graft on a personality. That’s why they customize them so much, it’s more an outfit for them than a vehicle or tool.
Jeepers are cringe but not as cringe as the people who get genuinely pissed off and/or upset by Jeepers.
But that’s exactly what this comm is for. You wanna hate on haters you should make a new post. Then somebody can become a hater hater hater. Then the next person will make a post about hating meta.
Thanks for the tip
I know they do the duck thing but I don’t think much about a jeep owner other than the fact that they bought a Chrysler product which… Is not that smart
Come to Vancouver Island, fuckers are everywhere stealing every campsite then go back to Vancouver on Monday
Not a large sample size but the two illegal campfires I spotted in the last weeks were jeep owners haha
